2007 Dinner
Auction Raises $37,000 for White Mountain Waldorf
School Scholarship Fund and Science Lab Center
Over 150 parents and
community members attended our seventh annual Share
the Bounty Dinner Auction held Friday, November 2
at Flatbread Company. They all enjoyed an evening
of fine organic dining provided by Flatbread
Company, shopping which included over 150 items
donated by area and national companies and a live
auction filled with excitement. The successful
evening raised over $37,000 dollars to be used to
continue the school’s mission of providing the
opportunity for a Waldorf education to the Mount
Washington Valley community.
Board of Trustees President, Terry Young took the
podium, and a chair, to announce that the school’s
building committee had been given approval to
commence groundbreaking activities toward
relocation of the entire school to its new location
on Route 16 in Albany, NH.
One would have thought that Terry Young’s
announcement would have been the quintessential
moment of the evening, however, half-way through
the auction Dr. Darin Brown teamed with George
Cleveland to present a live item titled, “Fund the
Science Lab”, and the twist - that if you raised
your paddle you didn’t “win” anything, but you
contributed directly to the science laboratory and
its equipment for the White Mountain Waldorf
School’s Middle-School curriculum. When George
finally closed the item, Darin announced that
$10,675 dollars was raised. And to quote Karen
Albert, Outreach Chair, "We built a science lab in
five minutes!"
It depended upon who you spoke to as to what was
the most memorable part of the evening. According
to Ginny Nossiff, Board of Trustees and White
Mountain Waldorf School Parent, “When the $5,000
was bid. That was the moment of the night, in my
opinion.” Although it may be a tie between the
“groundbreaking” announcement by the Board of
Trustees and the direct funding raised for the new
science lab, all will agree that the evening was a
success with over $37,000 raised.
And I would like to thank everyone that made this
evening happen from our sponsors Northway Bank,
